Where you are changes the spec
It is an hour from Stratford to the Huron shoreline, and the exterior of a house has a genuinely different life at each end.
- Town lots. Stratford, St. Marys, Listowel. Sheltered by neighbouring houses and trees, standard residential detailing.
- Open farmland. Perth County concessions with nothing breaking the wind for a mile. Heavier fastening, and the west wall proves it.
- Lakeshore. Goderich and the Huron coast. Wind straight off the water plus lake-effect snow load on the eavestrough.
- Snow belt. The north of Perth County catches more than the south, which puts soffit ventilation and ice on the agenda.
